Guests are encouraged to explore the surrounding nature, observing species like the vibrant Flying Dragon , various geckos, and the iconic Great Hornbill .
Important Guest Notice: Keep Lanta Wild!
Please protect our beautiful island wildlife by never feeding any animals.
Feeding monkeys changes their natural foraging and survival behaviors.
It teaches them to associate humans with food, which causes aggression toward guests.
It disrupts their natural digestive health and makes them sick.
Keeping them wild ensures safe, natural encounters for everyone. Thank you for respecting our wild jungle neighbors and helping us preserve the magic of Koh Lanta!

Long-Tailed Macaques (Crab-Eating Macaques)
Where to Find Them: You can find them almost everywhere on Koh Lanta, especially along the southern roadsides, around Ao Nui Bay, and hanging out near the entrance of Mu Ko Lanta National Park. Large troops also live in the Tung Yee Ping Mangrove Forest, where they swim and hunt for crabs.
Fun Fact: These monkeys are incredibly clever tool-users and excellent swimmers who can dive underwater for up to 30 seconds! Unlike the shy dusky leaf monkeys, they are highly bold and comfortable around humans, meaning they will happily steal your snacks, water bottles, or sunglasses right out of your beach bag if you look away for a second.

Dusky Leaf Monkey (Spectacled Langur)
Where to Find Them: While you have a chance to spot them in the lush jungle right around Rim Khao Resort, your absolute best chance of finding them is on the trails at Mu Ko Lanta National Park.
Fun Fact: These gentle, peaceful monkeys are famous for the bright white rings around their eyes that look like eyeglasses. Unlike macaques, they are incredibly shy and non-aggressive. Their babies are born with bright golden-yellow fur!

Sunda Colugo (Malayan Flying Lemur)
Where to Find Them: Clinging flat against large tree trunks near the resort forest edge at dusk.
Fun Fact: They cannot actually fly, and they are not lemurs! They are remarkable gliding mammals. They use a giant sheet of skin stretched between their limbs like a parachute to glide silently from tree to tree over distances of up to 100 meters.

Sunda Slow Loris
Where to Find Them: Hidden deep in dark tree branches during night walks (look for glowing eyes).
Fun Fact: This tiny, strictly nocturnal primate moves at a remarkably slow, deliberate pace. They have massive, round eyes designed to see perfectly in the pitch dark. They are a rare and magical find for lucky night hikers!

Asian Water Monitor
Where to Find Them: Swimming through the Thung Yee Pheng mangroves or sunbathing on riverbanks.
Fun Fact: Growing up to 2 meters long, these massive reptiles look like real-life jungle dragons! They are excellent swimmers and completely harmless to humans if left alone. They love basking in the hot afternoon sun.

Flying Dragon (Draco Lizard)
Where to Find Them: Zipping between tree trunks right in your resort gardens.
Fun Fact: Keep your eyes on the lower tree trunks! These tiny, colorful camouflage lizards have specialized wing-like membranes supported by their ribs. They leap into the air and glide effortlessly from tree to tree to escape predators.

The Common House Gecko (Jing-Jok)
Where to Find Them: Hanging out near your balcony lights or outdoor walls after dark.
Fun Fact: These are small, pale, and completely harmless little lizards. They make a fast, high-pitched "tch-tch-tch" clicking sound to talk to each other. They love eating the bugs attracted to the resort lights!

The Spectacular Tokay Gecko (Took-Kae)
Where to Find Them: High up on the outdoor wooden beams, under roof eaves, or on large jungle tree trunks.
Fun Fact: Growing up to 35 cm long, these are the heavyweights of the gecko world! They have stunning, colorful blue-grey skin covered in bright orange and red spots. You will absolutely hear them before you see them—they make an incredibly loud, deep, and iconic "Tooo-Kay! Tooo-Kay!" croak that echoes through the jungle night!

The Camouflaged Bent-Toed & Flying Geckos
Where to Find Them: Hanging upside down on the rough bark of trees throughout the resort gardens.
Fun Fact: These specialized jungle geckos have jagged patterns that perfectly mimic tree bark or moss. Look closely at the tree trunks at night; some local species even have small skin flaps along their tails and sides that help them blend flat against the wood to hide from predators!

Brahminy Kite
Where to Find Them: Soaring high in the sky over Koh Lanta's beaches and coastlines.
Fun Fact: This striking bird of prey is easy to spot from your beach lounge chair. They are immediately recognized by their bright, snow-white head and chest, contrasted by a beautiful rich chestnut-brown body and wings.

Great Hornbill
Where to Find Them: Flying over dense valley canopies early in the morning.
Fun Fact: These massive, prehistoric-looking tropical birds feature a bright yellow and black "helmet" (casque) on top of their huge bills. They are so large that you can actually hear the heavy, rhythmic whoosh-whoosh of their wings before you see them!
